Public Release - 2026-06-20

If every AI diligence answer looks complete, the risk is probably hiding in the format.

Artifact: diligence_digest_state_taxonomy_v1. This note defines a public review object for question status, evidence route, unsupported part, external confirmation, owner, and next review.

Artifact

Status is not decoration. It is the claim boundary.

This update defines diligence_digest_state_taxonomy_v1, a public review object for technical due diligence. Its purpose is to prevent polished AI progress language from collapsing unresolved items into apparent completion.

The object is not a legal, financial, medical, regulatory, production, or deployment assurance. It is a compact status schema for public claim review.

1

question

The due-diligence question being answered, stated narrowly enough to be checked.

2

status

Resolved, partially resolved, unsupported, or externally unconfirmed.

3

evidence_route

The artifact, registry, paper, page, or record that currently supports the answer.

4

unsupported_part

The exact part of the stronger claim that the current evidence does not support.

5

external_confirmation_needed

Whether outside reproduction, customer evidence, deployment receipt, or third-party audit is still missing.

6

next_review

The next scheduled review point or artifact route that prevents the claim from drifting.

Resolved, partial, unsupported, and externally unconfirmed state classes.

State Classes

Answered-looking text is not the same as answered risk.

Roadmap, architecture, in progress, under review, partner conversations, and iterative improvement can be useful descriptions. They are not evidence states by themselves.

A digest becomes inspectable only when each answer is placed into a state cell and linked to a route that a reader can open.

Unsupported Part

The useful cell is the one that refuses to over-answer.

The field unsupported_part is the guardrail. It says what the current artifact does not prove, even when the surrounding system is technically serious.

This prevents a paper, sample, QA note, or internal review from being silently upgraded into third-party reproduction, production deployment, customer evidence, or regulatory assurance.

Unsupported part ledger visual for AI due diligence.

Review

A claim that has no next review is already drifting.

The next_review field keeps the digest alive. It names the next artifact, missing control, comparison, or external confirmation required before the status can change.

That is the difference between a progress report and an evidence object.
